Many years ago, Jim Fincher and his wife made the decision that one day, they would give back to the Lord what they had been given. In the late 1980's, Jim's wife went to be with the Lord... but that did not stop Jim from wanting to fulfill his dream of blessing the work of the Lord. His new wife, Cornelia, agreed with him.

After retiring from a civilian job with the US Navy, Jim began looking into investment opportunities. That is when he found Liberty University! While watching Dr. Falwell on TV shortly after the 9/11 attacks, he heard about the lapel flags being offered. He made a donation to receive two flags, one for himself and one for Cornelia. When the flags arrived there was a copy of the Liberty Journal in the package - and inside, information about Liberty's Planned Giving Department. Jim made the call to Liberty, and Dr. Earl Sargeant of the Planned Giving team came to his home in Alabama to develop an investment portfolio.

Today, Jim and Cornelia have established several Charitable Gift Annuities with the help of the Planned Giving Department. Not only that, but they have made lifelong friends at Liberty University! Cornelia says, "It is very inspirational to be at Liberty."
